Inspired by many trips through Malpais National Monument area in New Mexico, this is one of two pieces which was created with expression of the grandness and colorfulness of the huge formations. A beautiful area where you question the life of the massive stones. The watermark image shown will not print on your finished product.
My art is busy. I see things in motion and in layers or textures. The colors come together first before I have an idea of what I am bringing to the surface. I love bringing textures into the mix and layering colors to bring out dimension (as in the piece “Prairie Fire”). My use of big colors comes from an unknown, but I think it has to do with ancestry. Since we don’t have time for that I’ll say that my work comes from what I’ve experienced and what I observe. I find humor in many subjects, like humans or animals. I find energy and movement in relation to my abstract subjects. Many of those are done as if I am in aerial mode looking down over an entire area, usually busy.
