About Robin Valenzuela
My art is busy. I see things in motion and in layers or textures. The colors come together first before I have an idea of what I am bringing to the surface. I love bringing textures into the mix and layering colors to bring out dimension (as in the piece “Prairie Fire”). My use of big colors comes from an unknown, but I think it has to do with ancestry. Since we don’t have time for that I’ll say that my work comes from what I’ve experienced and what I observe. I find humor in many subjects, like humans or animals. I find energy and movement in relation to my abstract subjects. Many of those are done as if I am in aerial mode looking down over an entire area, usually busy.
I currently use creative time on graphic design for local clients and studio time for painting. The digital designs are created on an iPad and prepped for printing on a computer. I began my professional art career in 2008 and have exhibited throughout galleries in Kansas and have shown at juried art festivals in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
